#1 - Singing Idols of Tomorrow
For: Ages 8 to 15 Instructor: Jaette Carpenter You'll learn solos and chorus parts from some of your favorite musicals like High School Musical, Annie, A Chorus Line, Fame and Chicago. We'll also help you find your own voice, use it correctly, and learn how to nurture it so you can sing beautifully for years to come. #2 - Drumbeats of Fun For: Ages 7 and up. Instructor: Chico Perez Hand drumming is good fun and good for you! In addition to drumming techniques and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, you'll learn how drumming can increase your inner balance and confidence, and create community. Join us on your own or bring friends and family members. #3 - Rock 'n Roll Paradise For: Ages 10 to 16 Instructor: David DeGennaro It's a "summer jam" for drummers, guitarists, singers, bass and keyboard players. You'll learn the basic elements of rock, blues and pop; how to establish a groove; how to solo, and how to play well with others. Basic instrumental/vocal skills required (call for details). #4 - Chamber Challenge For: Middle and High School Instrumentalists (will be divided into duos, trios, quartets). Instructor: Ellie Fregni If you've been playing an instrument in your middle or high school band or orchestra and haven't had the chance, or just can't get enough of playing in small groups, grab on to this opportunity. This camp will be musically challenging and rewarding in a big, fun way. Basic instrumental skills required (call for details). #5 - Marching Band + Jazz For: Beginning Middle School Instrumentalists (drums included) Instructor: Kaylynn Brown This camp will keep kids movin' and groovin' as they learn beginning drum-line techniques, march and watch videos of marching pros, learn some simple jazz licks, how to improvise beginning with one-note solos, and more. This is a great combination for kids who want to explore musical interests and find their own talents. PLEASE NOTE: Camp Dates: June 23-26 (Camden location: 3751 Sheridan Ave. N., Mpls, 55412) Repeated Aug. 18-21 (NE location: 697 13th Ave. NE, Mpls, 55413) Camp Times: 5-8pm. Includes family-style dinner. Camp Tuition: $150 (+ materials for some camps) Family members get a 10% discount on camp tuition when one person in the family is enrolled at full price. Costs for materials, if necessary, will be in the range of $8-$10 per person. Minimum 8 students per camp. Age ranges for camps may be adjusted based on enrollment. Students should bring their own instruments to camp. CMS does not provide instruments. Please call with questions. Meals will be simple and tasty. Please call in advance of registration to discuss any special dietary needs. Friends, family and neighbors are invited to attend final camp performances.
