In Music Makers, Musikgarten continues to layer on additional skills at an appropriate pace. Students will learn to sing with increased accuracy, range, and repertoire, listen to sounds in an increasingly complex context and distinguish the sounds of individual instruments. They’ll also learn to play various patterns, as well as steady beat accompaniments on a variety of rhythm instruments.

In part I, Music Makers: At Home in the World¸ children are engaged in activities that establish a solid music-making foundation. This class focuses on childrens’ fascination with nature and develops a love of instruments. Students will be introduced to the sounds of orchestral instruments individually, and then in the context of an ensemble. Such a listening foundation will lead to long-term success with music reading in future classes.

In part II, Music Makers: Around the World, your child will explore the music of the British Isles, Germany, and our own Amerindian and African-American music heritage. Children will learn songs, dances, stories, rituals, and customs of these cultures to help them understand others around the world.

Why Music Makers?
